Popis projektu:na stránke Európskej komisie

Sumár projektu: The main idea of the project LET’S UNITE TO BE UNIQUE is to promote, through the international European relations being developed and cultivated in the field of education, the international cooperation and to exploit the positive aspects of this coaction of schools, in order to achieve the improvement of quality of primary education institutions, their teaching methodology and their educational pedagogy. With respect to the cultural diversity of Europe, our project aims to present this union as a source of mutual enrichment. Our project team was formed by communicating through educational websites. Some (schools) of us had previously worked on other projects (such as Comenius & Erasmus), participating in at least two different groups. Our group consists of 6 European schools from Greece, Estonia, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Wales. We are schools different concerning the number of students and we are registered in countries that share some similarities between them but also some major differences as well, notably in levels such as national, cultural and educational. Hence, we have a lot to learn from each other. The experience some of us have, coming from previous European programs, has taught us that "Knowledge stops nowhere". The objectives of the project "Let's Unite to be Unique" is to explore both our common but also our different and unique characteristics, so that through interaction we can find a common path of development concerning our schools. We are very interested in the fact that in Europe we can be a strong Union without losing our particular national characteristics. Our actions are designed to help overcome contemporary issues of our societies and schools, such as: prejudices, stereotypes, xenophobia, intolerance, social racism, education, disability and immigration. They are divided into three stages: a) Actions of acquaintance and socialization b) Actions of identifying common and different characteristics and their utilization and c) Actions addressing current social and educational problems. The methodology we will follow will be "collaborative", using New Technologies with frequent communications, meetings and monthly actions. Our actions can be integrated into the normal curriculum of our schools, without burdening them, and in subjects such as Language, Mathematics, History, Geography, English, Computer Science and Arts. We are going to organize "General meetings", where our findings and also our proposals for improvement will be expressed to the wider audience, and there will be the "Evaluation" of the course and finally the results of our project will be introduced. There are many reasons why this particular project should be approved. All schools are situated in areas relatively far from large urban centers. In such remote areas there are a lot of social problems we are facing. And, as briefly mentioned above, our project, apart from dealing with multiculturalism, seeks to negotiate problems such as the reception of immigrants, social racism, students’ poor family background and a number of students with special needs, which exist in all schools involved in this project. Our target groups are the parents, the broader local educational community, the local authorities, the educational institutions of the region, cultural and social institutions and associations, health institutions involved in the special education, local businesses. All of them can be admitted to the good practices gained from the participation of our schools in the particular program, but also can help each other, in their own way and by their own position, both in the implementation of the program and the dissemination and exploitation of its results, as well. And last but not least; opening up these pupils' horizons, strengthening their self-esteem, and creating memories of a lifetime are the most significant and final outcomes of the experience that these pupils will receive from their participation in the program. We tend to believe that the results of our project will have an immediate and long-lasting impact on our local communities and our schools. Furthermore, they will contribute to the concept of European integration, to the incorporation of "good practices" in our educational process, strengthening the belief that "Our multiculturalism is our advantage" and at the same time addressing current phenomena that concern our societies and our schools. In the long run, they will create schools that will give both students and teachers the conviction that, the first, progress and evolve and the second, that by developing themselves through this collaboration, they create modern and responsible European citizens.
