Sumár projektu: | The European Union faces new challenges due to the increased age of the labor force and longevity. Demographics show that the median age of the population in Europe is increasing rapidly. In 2020 it is expected that people over 55 years old will comprise 32.72% of the population in Europe. Moreover, life expectancy has currently reached 79.1 years, and as a result, the retirement age is soon going to be higher. Inevitably, people over 55 years old are going to play an active and important role in the European economy. However, the working environment is going through many changes, due to digitalisation and Industry 4.0. Older generations tend to be hesitant and skeptical against any kind of change, due to a lack of appropriate skills. As a result, older people strive to keep-up in the workplace and many times have to face job discrimination or segregation. Nowadays, companies with a one-size-fits-all approach to workplace design is failing to meet the needs and expectations of a multigenerational workforce. Generational differences in the workplace might affect misunderstandings, high employee turnover, difficulty in attracting employees, and gaining employee commitment. Facing all the above challenges, the INSPIRER project will develop necessary tools and activities which will promote communication between different generations, support a multigenerational culture in the workplace and will also foster the development of digital skills. The primary objective of the project is to promote, through innovative and integrated approaches, ownership of shared values, equality, diversity in the workplace. The specific objectives of the project are: To eliminate age discrimination and segregation in the workplace. To create positive and inclusive working environments for older generations To train company and HR managers on how to create and maintain a multigenerational workforce To upskill the digital and collaboration skills of senior employees To create a more flexible working mindset to older generations. To involve all stakeholders and provide practical tools for the assessment of multigenerational culture in the workplace The main target groups of the project are: Company and HR managers of companies employing people over and under 55 years of age Employees of companies employing people over and under 55 years of age INSPIRER project will produce 3 innovative outputs: Training course on multigenerational workplace culture The training course will be addressed to the company and HR managers and will provide useful information and training on elements and policies which need to be implemented in order for companies to profit from the full potential of supporting a multigenerational culture in the workplace. 360o assessment tool for multigenerational workplace culture The tool will provide a holistic approach to assessing the culture of a company. It will support company managers and employees (over and under 55) to measure the elements that constitute a multigenerational workplace. In the end it will give suggestions and tips on what each party could implement in order to enhance the collaboration between generations. Cross-generational / reverse-age mentorships in digital technologies The third output promotes the notion of reverse mentoring. It will work as space where younger and older workers will pair to provide mentoring on new technologies and areas of expertise and to share insights. The main results of the project are: Awareness-raising on the importance and benefits of creating a multigenerational culture inside the workplace, by effectively engaging and bringing together older and younger employees into the development of an inclusive workplace. The project will execute targeted activities in order to reach a large number of stakeholders inside and outside of companies, such as policymakers, chambers, associations, SMEs and larger companies, company and HR managers, employees. Webinars will be organised by VHS, IDEC and TREBAG, which will disseminate project results and recruit participants in the piloting phases. All awareness-raising activities of partners will be promoted through email campaigns and social media. Capacity building of company and HR managers, on how to foster and build a successful multigenerational workforce. Additionally, capacity building of younger and older employees, who will co-mentor each other on new digital technologies and areas of expertise. Adaptation of common values in the workplace, which will result in the creation of inclusive and healthy working environments. Companies will break the multigenerational barriers The project is implemented by 7 partners from 5 different EU countries in order to create results that will have European wide applicability and impact. Partners come from Slovakia, Greece, Germany, Hungary, and Luxembourg. |
